connection issue!  help
I'm running vista, and every so often my internet just stops. it happens without warning, and seemingly with no cause. I get no error message, but I need to reboot to get my internet back. I'm connected with a wirre, so I know it's not a wifi issue. anyone have any ideas? I can post up and information or files needed, I just don't know what i need. -Larett

What is your network setup? Do you have a cable / dsl modem that goes to a router, and then from the router to your computer?

a wire goes from my computer to an APPLE airport extreme, from the airport to a 2-wire provided by our internet carrier, and from the 2 wire into the wall. I need to set it up this way for wireless issues with the PC's and MAC's we have in the house. -Larett

Hi Larett, First, I suggest checking the following when the issue occurs: 1. Can the Windows Vista machine ping the APPLE airport extreme? 2. Can the Windows Vista machine ping the 2-wire device? 3. Does the DNS name resolution works fine on the Windows Vista machine? 4. Can other machines in this environment access to the Internet? In addition, to narrow down the cause of the issue, is it possible to connect directly the Windows Vista machine to the 2-wire device and monitor to check if the issue reoccurs? I look forward to your response.
